Bird Dwyer
Growing up in little-to-do Fort Erie Ontario, Bird most enjoyed his time spent doodling and creating. He went on to study a range of visual art media at Sheridan College and McMaster University (99-'05) before homing in the characteristics that define his work today. During that time Bird had his art exhibited at the MMA and various other galleries and venues.
Upon finishing his studies, Bird traveled west spending a year in British Columbia before migrating to Southern California. Over the next seven years he sharpened his skills working full-time as a professional caricature artist; returning to Ontario in 2013.
Through an automatism-like process of layering and mark making he develops and brings to the surface his complex imagery. Birds recent work mostly consists of ink and watercolour with a label somewhere near the orbit of surreal abstract expressionism.
